Be responsible!

Okay so there are three main things that I don't understand about Malaysians. Note that I'm not saying all Malaysians behave this way. There are some of them. This has been bothering me to no end since forever. So I decided to blog about it. Because why not?

1. Throwing away your leftovers and whatever rubbish you have on the table after eating at a fast food joint

I'll have to say this one bothers me the most because people take this thing lightly. But in my opinion, I think it's a pretty big deal. Come on, if you're at home, would you just leave your plates and leftovers on the table every time you eat? Oh and please. Save the "what are the workers getting paid for?" because that's even annoying than not throwing away your leftovers/boxes/papers. Yes, their workers are getting paid but that doesn't mean we have to be a bunch of snobs. Their workers have to clean the toilets, wipe the tables, arrange the tables and chairs, take out the rubbish, wipe the trays, clean up the windows and I could go on and on but I think I've made my point. Your job is only one thing : clear your table and that's it. It's really not that difficult. Gather all the things you want to throw on your tray, get up, walk a few feet and throw them away. How hard can THAT be? Of all the places I've visited, not a single country has this behavior of just walking away without throwing their rubbish on the table. Everyone throws their leftovers/papers/boxes without complaining about it. So why can't we? I also noticed that some of Malaysians do practice this, which is good. I always feel satisfied when seeing Malaysians do this because that shows how some Malaysians are responsible and considerate. So guys, be responsible!

2. Throwing away stuff everywhere

When I said 'everywhere' it literally means everywhere. Out the car window in the middle of a highway, the drains, parking lots and sometimes even in the malls! It's really wrong to just throw away things at places that are not a rubbish can. Excuse people always give : but there are no rubbish cans near me!

Honestly, that excuse sounds really stupid to me. Pardon my french. But seriously, can't you just hold on to the rubbish until you see a garbage can? I always keep the rubbish in my bag or my car for a while until I see a garbage can so I can throw them away. Even if it's the littlest thing like a gum wrapper. You can't just expect that it's okay because gum wrappers are really small so it won't make a difference. Earth to, guys. It does make a difference. If there are a lot of people think that way, then it will be thousands of gum wrappers, which doesn't sound so small now, right? There was this one time, I saw a woman who threw her daughter's used diaper at a parking lot. Like, right beside the lot her car was parked in. A diaper. A used one at that. How irresponsible can that person be? So what, she thinks the cleaners are okay with it because it's their job to clean? I'm pretty sure "throw away baby diapers" is not written in their working agreement. I was so upset seeing this behavior. It's your baby and it's your responsibility. You can always find a garbage can or if you can't find one near you, then keep it in your car until you get home. Where's the hassle in that? The diaper won't weigh a ton. There was also this one time, I was in the car on a highway, on my way to see my brother at his boarding school in Pahang. A car in front of us rolled down their window and threw away a big chunk of papers. What was that for? Is your car out of space? Your car can hold 5 adults and yet you can't hold on a chunk of papers until you reach your destination? I'm really confused with these kinds of people.

So please guys, throw your garbage into an actual garbage can. They're called GARBAGE can for a reason, you know.


3. Failure at maintaing public toilets' cleanliness

Some public toilets in Malaysia are really clean and perfectly maintained. So why can't all the public toilets be that way? I don't know if it's just me, but wet toilets annoy me to the core. I know we have to keep hygienic and use the water to clean up but that doesn't mean you have to wet the whole cubicle. Wet floors attract bacterias even more so what's so hygienic about splashing the water all over the cubicles? Take the pipe, put it facing the toilet bowl before you actually turn on the water, clean up, turn the water off before putting back the pipe in its holder. This way, the water won't be splashing everywhere. Hence, we can keep the toilets dry & clean and at the same time, we are being hygienic. Oh and one more thing, a flush only takes a few seconds. So by flushing the toilet after using it won't waste your time at all.

These are the main three things that I noticed being a Malaysian myself. I am proud to be a Malaysian because we are actually striving to be a better country in the future but to me, if only a few citizen are responsible, then how can we be a first world country by 2020? I know the things I mentioned above are really petty things to some people but these smallest things are really important to be a great country. So to those who always throw their rubbish in garbage cans, keep the public toilets clean and throw their leftovers after eating, keep it up because you're doing a good job at being a responsible citizen. If you love your country, then start doing your part, no matter how small.

Today's the day!

Okay some of you might think I'm talking about the world's going to end on 21/12/2012 or the Nibiru planet is going to collide with Earth or whatever it is they say on the news. But guess what? It's not about all those.

'Today's the day' means it's Friday and it's the last day of classes for my 5th semester!!!! Woohoo! Well, I have two weeks of study weeks then it's the finals. So I shouldn't be too happy but I'm just so glad that all the assignments are submitted, all the tests are over and all my presentations are done for now. Pheww, seriously this semester is by far the most hectic semester I've ever experienced.

Yesterday I thought it was going to be the last day because usually I don't have classes on Fridays. So I pinched in extra time to get ready. Since it's the last day, I thought I should dress well. 

Oh, my logic...

However, I was informed that we have an extra class today for a recap of the whole semester. But since it's Law class, I didn't mind going. It's my favorite subject after all. I ended up wearing a pair of Baju Kurung on my last day. I didn't mind though. I love Baju Kurungs, especially on Fridays!

 So to those Degree students who are on their study week, Happy Holidays and Good Luck on your studies & finals!!

Natural Disasters

If you don't know about the Earthquake and Tsunami hitting Japan last night, you must be living in a cave. But I'm pretty sure everyone knows about it since it has become the number 1 topic on Twitter and of course, everyone is on Twitter these days. That was how I found out about it actually.

My parents, sister and I were on our way to Kuantan, Pahang to fetch my little brother from his boarding school as the school holidays is starting. I was in the car, checking my timeline and I saw everyone freaking out! I automatically freaked out without knowing what actually happened. So I read through all the tweets and found out that something happened to Japan. Even Disneyland got hit!! :( I also saw warnings for Malaysians to stay safe and far from beaches. Though they mainly warned the ones in Sabah and Sarawak, I couldn't help but panicked since Malaysia means here. Right here where I'm at, where my families are and where my friends are. To make things worse, I was on my way to Kuantan, where the beach is!! I was freaking out in the car, I swear my sister and I almost cry. We were scared the whole way but I was glad that we were on our way to fetch my brother. I mean, imagine if it isn't school holidays and he's far away from us. I'd rather face anything with my family than being safe without them. While freaking ourselves out, someone had to post something about the sun hadn't come out since morning and it's a Friday. All Muslims know that the end of the world (Kiamat) happens on a Friday. I read the tweet out loud so my family knows about it. As much as I was worried about Japan, I couldn't help being a little selfish and think about Malaysia.

On the way, I tried to keep my mind positive but with the weather, rain pouring since dawn and the news I heard on the radio to keep updated about the disaster in Japan, I was literally shaking. To add salt to the wound, we passed a lot of accidents along the way. Cars turned 360 degrees, people lying on the road.. How was I suppose to be calm??? I could feel the tears coming out and I wonder, 'what's happening to the world?'. I didn't want to keep thinking too much, so I tried sleeping. Though I kept waking up every few minutes, I forced myself to shut my eyes. Alhamdulillah, we arrived safely and Zahir kept WhatsApp-ing me to come back as fast as I can and he advised us to not stay the night there since the beach is so near. But we had to consider my Dad too. He had been driving for 3 hours straight in the rain, the least we could do is to let him sleep in a proper bed before we go back.

We had dinner there in Kuantan and Dad decided to stay the night. Unfortunately, every decent hotel was fully booked and we were searching for a hotel until midnight. Dad decided to just go back since there wasn't any rooms available. I was worried of course. Dad was tired, I could tell from his eyes and it was past midnight! I kept asking him if he was tired but he insisted he was okay. We arrived safe and sound in Subang. As soon as we reached home, we tuned in CNN and watched the disaster. It was really scary.

It really hit me that we human tend to take this earth for granted. We should really appreciate and start taking care of this earth as much as we can. I hope it's not too late..
So here's my condolences to those who have lost families and friends in Japan. My hearts goes to every single one of you. Stay strong.

Wow

As you can already see, I changed my blog skin. I'm starting to get a little bored with the previous one. So anyways, God forgive me for not updating yesterday. I swear I did on my laptop but then realised Daddy brought the broadband with him and I'm too lazy to ask my brother the password for the wireless. Work yesterday was bored like usual. Two of Benefit's supervisors came and only two minutes with them I felt like burning them in hell. I hate the look on their faces, the way they talk, the way they do everything is just plain annoying. I ignore them completely and I don't freaking care what they want to say. Hell, I don't even care if they want to fire me from that lame job because I did well on the sales yesterday, thankyouverymuch. I hope they won't be there tomorrow, fingers crossed. Tailed Mom to school this morning and came back with a tired face plastered. Changed without showering and dozed off in the living room until the moon came up. I think today's world's tiring day because everyone seems pretty gloomy throughout the day. Even the kids were not energetic for the dance training and I had to keep on reminding them to live up. Maybe everyone woke up today and realised life is pathetic or maybe some of them kick start their days with bad hair days.
Work again tomorrow and gosh, I don't even know what to wear. I'll have to raid my closet for black clothes later then. It's so sad that I have to do something I hate for these three days.

Mom, my brother and I argued about the kid that was shot by a cop. I personally think that cop is stupid. Better yet, almost all of the cops are plain stupid and I bet each and everyone of them is suffering from a family dilemma and they tend to release their stress by acting like a cow. Law stated that a cop can't pull the triger unless if they were being shot at. But in this case, that kid was only 15years young and probably afraid because he didn't own a driver's license while the cop has a mind of a 3years old. I told you I hate cops especially the narrow minded ones in Malaysia. They need to at least be educated and please, dunderheads, learn how to open up your mind. Don't think you're a cop, you can be an asshole. I'm starting to get suspicious that cops don't have brains. I bet the main rules and regulations on the application form to be a cop is 'you can't have a brain to be a police.' Pardon my french, but I'm just speaking up my mind.

Landslide

Whats all these landslide stories I hear ? Newspapers, news on tv. All I hear is landslide here, landslide there. I didnt give it any thought as I dont really care about it. Little did I know that Bukit Antarabangsa is also the prey to the monsterous landslide. Mommy woke me up with a vey worrying news that Awish couldnt make it to our house today because he and his family were stuck up there in their house. And they still are. Stuck with no water and electricity. They couldnt get out. I freaked out by the thought of a little baby like Awish is stuck up there :S I want my Awish here now ! Please please please god, I want Awish in good health and condition. His family too, pleasee. Lets pray for the 5000 people stuck up in their home at Bukit Antarabangsa and for those who died because of the disaster
