#8HoursofLux Bold & Beautiful Campaign

Do you know how annoying it is when you found a shower gel that smells so good and you bought it hoping you’d smell so good throughout the whole day but the fragrance just don’t last? Some shower gels can’t even last a couple hours. Being a fragrance addict that I am, I’ve experienced this a lot. I always tend to purchase good smelling things only to find out that I have to shower at least 5 times a day to make the smell lasts all day.

That is why when I was invited to this campaign by Lux, I was thrilled and curious. It is said that the long lasting fine fragrance from Lux can last for up to 8 hours. I was of course, doubting the truth behind that statement. And so.. I RSVP-ed to the invitation, wanting to know more about this long lasting fine fragrance that is Magical Spell.

“8 hours?”
“Yeah right”, I told myself.

I admit, I was being skeptical about it. Well, don’t blame me. Blame the thousands of shower gel bottles I’ve tried but was never satisfied.

Since (and I quote) the Lux Magical Spell can lasts up to 8 hours, the campaign is scheduled for 8 full hours. From 10am to 6pm, which was pretty shocking to me. Usually the events I was invited to will end in no more than 2 and a half hours, max. But now, 8 hours? Wow, Lux really wants to prove me wrong, I thought to myself. Hehe.

I arrived at the venue in Sunway Damansara sharp at 10am. I wanted to be there earlier but you know us girls (or is it just me? Just me? Yeah okay….). My right wing eyeliner was not streaked the same angle as the left. So…. Yeah. There goes my 10 minutes.

Anyway, I knew Sabrina Tajuddin was coming to this event as well. So we texted each other saying that we should meet up at the entrance so we can go in together. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest people. We were also offered drinks while waiting for the rest of the media to arrive. While waiting, I had the chance to meet the other 6 bloggers who were participating in the make over by Lux. Aside from Sabrina, I met Charis, Sarah, Chenelle, Shea, Namee and Cik Epal.

The event started with the host welcoming the guests, talked a little bit about Lux and Magical Spell, followed by speeches by Chong Yen Nee, Category Head Senior Brand Manager, Total Skin, Unilever Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd.  as well as the special celebrity guest, Juliana Evans.

The objective of this campaign is to inspire women all over the world to be bold and beautiful by stepping out of their comfort zone but still feel confident with themselves. With Lux Magical Spell, which contains powerful fragrance of black orchid, juniper oil and a blend of dark woods, golden amber and vanilla bean, the fragrance can provoke the boldness and bring out the sensual confidence in a woman.

All guests were then invited over to the fragrance corner where we can experience the long lasting fine fragrance that is Lux Magical Spell right there and then. I couldn’t miss the opportunity so I went to the fragrance corner and tried it on, with the help of Lux R&D team of course! After she exfoliated my hand with the cute purple loofah, I straight away put my hand to my nose so I can smell it.

Mmmm, yes. It smells gooood.

BUT!

Yes, there’s a but. I was still doubting its ability to lasts up to 8 hours! So let’s just wait till this event ends and I can smell my hands again, then we can jump to a conclusion, alright? *smirks*

After lunch, all the media went back while the remaining 8 bloggers stay for the make over. We were all so anxious because we didn’t know what to expect from the make over.

What if I didn’t like it? *gasp*

The make up team from SUB International School of Beauty and Make-Up was all ready at the vanity tables, waiting for us. Once seated, I realized the lack of mirror presence. Yeap, there’s no mirror at all! Well, except the full-length mirror I saw stationed in the middle of the changing rooms. But even that mirror was covered with cloth over it. Dang, these people really meant it when they said “you are not allowed to see yourselves during the makeover”. Even our phones were taken away in a box! *cries* All of us were looking at each other when they took our phones away. Confusion and devastation were plastered all of our faces! But the team said that they don’t want us to take selfies of ourselves or take a peek at our make up and outfit before they reveal our full make over in front of the full-length mirror (yes, the mirror I saw earlier). I guess that’s the only mirror in the whole room.

Each one of us was styled with the help of fashion stylist, Min Luna alongside Juliana Evans. All the outfits chosen for us were all from ZALORA, which was pretty exciting. I mean, ZALORA is a reputable online brand and everyone knows that. Not only that, now they have their own store in Mitsui Outlet in Sepang. Impressive, I must say!

After our make up, we changed into the outfits chosen for us. I know what the outfit looks like (Juliana and Min explained to us on what our make-up should be and how our outfits should look like at the beginning of the makeover) but I had no idea if it'll look good on me. Not to mention, my make up! Oh no, what if I didn’t like the make up? Everything was recorded from start to finish. So I was pretty nervous on how to react in front of the mirror when they finally reveal my whole look.  Long story short, I did not run away. Nor did I faint after looking at myself in the mirror. Instead, I was honestly shocked. I couldn’t even recognize myself! The color combination of the outfit and the heavy eye shadows were not something I would choose to wear. However, I definitely feel confident with the bolder look I was donning! I really liked how it turned out, honestly speaking. Stepping out of my comfort zone never felt so good!

BEFORE

AFTER

I mean, I can't believe my eyes. I looked so different!
So here's a better picture of me before and after side by side so you guys can see how different I looked after the make over!

All of us were treated for a glamorous photo shoot after they revealed everyone’s makeovers. There was also a surprise where they would choose one winner who stands out and portrays confidence with the new look.

Whatdayaknow?

I was the winner!!!! SCREAMS!!!!

I didn’t expect it, honestly but it sure felt good to be on that stage as the winner for this bold and beautiful campaign.

As for the prize, I got to keep all the ZALORA pieces that were on me. How awesome is that?! Thank you ZALORA.

Now I am excited to see how the whole thing once it’s produced!

By the way, when the event ended at 7pm, Charis and I excitedly smelled our hands to see if the Magical Spell’s fragrance is still there. Yeap, the smell was still there, as if we just washed our hands with it only 5 minutes ago. Lux Magical Spell truly has the long lasting fine fragrance that lasts for up to 8 hours!

Finally, a shower gel that lasts!! JACKPOT!!!

To experience a luxurious shower, follow these three steps:

Step #1 - Lux
Wet the loofahs in the shower and pour a little Lux Magical Spell on the loofah.

Step #2 - Loofah
Gently massage the loofah to work into a rich, luxurious lather and enjoy the intense and alluring fragrance of Lux Magical Spell.

Step #3 - Lather
Massage all over your body to let the luxurious lather and its enchanting fragrance embrace your skin and sense!

Lux Magical Spell is available at all hypermarkets, supermarkets, pharmacies and trade outlets.

RM17.90 / 950 ml

RM6.00 / 220ml

While the refill pack is priced at RM8.90 / 600ml.

The campaign really made me realized that no matter what you choose to wear,  it’s your confidence that matters the most.

I was asked at the event to explain what being bold and beautiful means to me. Without hesitation, I said:

“Being bold and beautiful to me is being able to feel confident with who you are and what you choose to wear. It’s about being able to do that without thinking of other people’s judgments. It’s all about being true to yourself, loving yourself for it and showing to the world that you are confident and comfortable being in your own skin.”

What do you think? What does being bold and beautiful mean to you?
Let me know!

#OOTD : Of Black Jumpsuit & A Pop of Color

Went to a make up previewby Dinie Abdullah yesterday at The Strand, organized by Dynamigue. Thank you for the invite!

Decided to go for a simple and comfortable since it was a casual event. So my trusted black jumpsuit it is!

But of course, Ayeen can't go out with only black on her outfit. So I decided to add a pop of color by matching the outfit with my yellow bubble necklace and a leopard printed clutch.

Wearing a black jumpsuit from a flea market, Necklace from J Crew, Clutch from Steve Madden and Heels from Pedro.

Butterfly Project Malaysia Christmas Dinner 2014 ♡

I have been a member of the Butterfly Project for a while now but I didn’t do my research thoroughly. Therefore, I have wasted my time & wasted so many opportunities I could have gotten! I am so disappointed at myself for not having the drive to really find opportunities for my blog and YouTube channel through The Butterfly Project because Butterfly Malaysia is a good platform to network with other beauty bloggers/vloggers!  But with my awesome “Internet” friends, they advised me and motivated me to do my research and rebrand myself on the Internet.

“Akak nampak, Ayeen ada potential dalam bidang ni”, said Innanie Ariffin from Blog CoklatEyes.

Translation : “I can see you have potential in this industry.”

I still remember the words and motivation they gave me, I literally cried!

Well, long story short, I did my homework, rebranded and reemphasized on certain things on my blog & YouTube to start new. I became more aware of what opportunities The Butterfly Project offers. So, when they posted that they were having a Christmas Dinner/Party with 100 members of the community, I jumped into it and signed up for the dinner without hesitation.

I got so excited that day because it was going to be my first ever Butterfly Project event! Truthfully, I was a little bit nervous too as I was the ‘new girl’ while everyone knows everyone there. I came with Kak Nanie, and she was one of the senior butterfly that night so she was a little busy welcoming everyone and I was left on my own because the ones I know, Wiida and Kak Sabby haven’t arrived. I was really awkward and stood in a corner alone but then I realized, this is the sort of thing that won’t make myself develop. More often than not, I would be very bubbly and friendly to everyone even if they’re strangers. But that night, I felt so intimidated for some reasons even I can’t explain. After realizing I was being a snob, I started to fight the urge to mingle around.

I did and this is what happened in the next 5 minutes…..

These girls are just so amazing how they are so acceptable and it was really easy to blend in. Maybe because we have the same passion towards beauty & blogging. But for the most part, I think it’s because we are all a crazy bunch of people, which is so exciting and fun! I can be my crazy self with these ladies!

I made new friends and I also met people whom I know from the Internet but never met before that night. Let me tell you, it was really awesome to see the person you watch on your computer screen on regular basis standing in front of you, giving you hugs and taking selfies with you.

But in all the excitement, I can say, the one person I was really really excited to meet was Izzati. I watch her videos on YouTube and when I saw her, my hand automatically waved at her vigorously without shame. She gave me a weird look at first because well, I didn’t even know if she knows me! But after awhile, we became instant friends! We talked about a lot of things and being YouTubers, we talked about cameras, lightings and the hard work to film and edit a video. I’m thinking of doing a collab with her in 2015. Do you guys have any ideas on what kind of videos you would want to watch of us before I approach her with this idea? Let me know :)

Okay, back to the event, we spent some time networking and mingling around before Tammy (Founder of Butterfly Project aka the most awesome Mama San any butterflies could ever dreamed of) gave an opening speech. Then, we were fed by The Apartment @ Curve with the most delicious food! There were turkeys, pasta, desserts and my most favorite was the broccoli & cauliflower served with cheese sauce.

There were so many fun activities organized by Tammy and the other senior butterflies. We had performances by some of the talented butterflies, we were also assigned to groups and all members of the groups have to find their own senior butterfly with the clues given. I was in a group with new faces I have never seen but they were all so funny and nice. Our senior butterfly was Cindy! One familiar face in the group and it happened to be the senior in the group. I met Cindy at an event last year and it was really good to see her again! We came up with the name “Flaming Flamingoes” as our group’s name.

Cindy introducing the Flaming Flamingoes' members!

The last half an hour (maybe more) of the night was filled with calling people’s names for the Secret Santa session! Guess what I got?

A box filled with beauty and other random things!

I found out that my Secret Santa was Syafiera Lewis! Thank you babe :)

When the event ended, I was pretty bummed as I still wanted to have fun with these girls but it was getting pretty late. It wasn’t until I got home that I felt so exhausted. But exhaustion didn’t stop me from opening the beauty box Butterfly Malaysia had prepared for every participant! They have included a lot of things in this box from different brands! I can’t wait to start trying them and give my opinion about them!

I had a really great time, thanks to Kak Nanie and Kak Sabby for motivating me to go involve myself in these kind of events, Tammy for being so welcoming & fun and of course to the girls I met that night. You girls are the most fun bunch!

Selfies or "wefies" are a must!

First time meeting these two pretty ladies but we talked & laughed like we already knew each other!

One with the team leader, Cindy

And of course, with the Butterfly Malaysia's Founder, Tammy!

Oh and some of the pictures were taken by Kawi Studio!

TEDxYouth KL 2013

I love going to motivational talks or self development workshops or anything relatively close to that. If you don't know what TED is, it's basically a non profit organization that organizes conferences that gather inspirational speakers to spread their ideas and experiences towards success. In life, in business, entertainment, technology and just about anything. I love the idea of TED because it definitely inspires and motivates people around the world, especially youths. Like me. I found TED talks to be very useful and entertaining because it doesn't just focus on one thing only. It's not always boring and all "business". Although I'm not implying that business is a boring thing but you know what I mean. TED talks include people from different backgrounds, successful in their own ways. Starting up their businesses, failed and didn't give up, people who came out with an innovation to improve lives, people who fight for the environment or animals, even people in the entertainment industry, who work through days and nights just to produce something for the society to enjoy during their leisure time. You know, all these people are very inspiring. So to witness their talks right in front of my own eyes was one of the best moments in my life. I always watch TED talks on my phone (you can download the TED app in the AppStore!) while having my breakfast, every day. I don't know about you, but other than exercising and eating healthy breakfast in the morning, I find that watching inspirational videos and reading motivational books before starting my day can really make the rest of my day better. I am more enthusiastic and motivated to go through the day and do productive activities throughout the day when I started the day with a combination of exercising, good breakfast and talks or videos in the morning. You should try that too, if you want to change the way you look at things in your daily lives. I assure you, you'll be more positive than ever! Include that as your New Year's resolution if you want. After all, I once read that a simple action can change everything.

Back to TED.

On November 16th 2013, my brother and I attended the TEDxYouth in KL. My brother sponsored me the ticket because he knows how badly I wanted to go. The tickets were only RM50.00, but to have someone pay for me is way better. Haha. It was held at the Penthouse @ The Icon near Jalan Ampang. My brother and I played safe by taking the train to the venue because we didn't want to get stuck in the crazy traffic.

We had our breakfast after registering at this little cafe just opposite The Icon called Danielle's. They have awesome American Brownies is all I can say because that was the only thing I had. But the cafe's ambiance is really nice. Sort of like a chill atmosphere.

Before we were allowed to go in the hall for the conference to start, my brother and I went around and met new people. It was just so amazing of how these people are so successful and I like talking to them because they all have this positive energy that I can feel surrounding the whole place.

Oh and I also met one of my juniors from high school and he was a volunteer for TEDxYouth! How cool is that?!

Some of the speakers were Razif Hashim (an Actorpreneur), Azim Hulaimi (Co-founder of Mira Digital & Visual Effect Artist, was apart of the making of Life of Pi), JinnyBoy (Youtuber & Radio DJ), Gajen Nad ( A standup comedian), Dr. Clarence Tan (Ambassador of Singularity University), Dr. Lovisa (A Marine Biologist), Yit Ming (Co-Founder of Soft Space), Christian BPalencia (A Barefoot Musician) and my most favourite speakers that day, Joyce (Founder of Otak Otak) and Li Kheng Phng (A business Extraordinaire). All the speakers gave amazing speeches, I must say. Truly inspiring!

I know this is really late, but I want to thank my brother again for sponsoring me the ticket and going there with me. I'm really lucky to have a brother who always support me in everything I do and share the same visions and interests as me. I love you, Abang! *blowskisses*
